UNEXPECTED JOY
UNEXPECTED JOY OF DURABLE SHOES (AND HOW THEY SAVED MY DAY)
I am in real sense a finick for shoes. It has to be the right pair with the appropriate color and shade for the specific occasion to match perfectly with the dress. Hence, I do have a decent collection at home that occupy considerable space, much to the annoyance of my family. Surely, we all do have this tendency to store at least one pair of shoe that is considered the ‘special one’ for certain specific occasions where one would like to flaunt the same. This however, at times might become an anti-climax as it happened with me.
So here I was in Jodhpur for a marriage, enjoying my stay at a luxurious hotel, at the heart of the city. I had brought the pair of my ‘special shoes’ having matched it with my traditional Indian dress suited for the wedding and was eager to flaunt it in the evening function. After all it had been a year since I last used it. Finally, the moment arrived where I started to get dressed for the function, having put on the dress, I proudly wore the shoes, as a jewel in the crown. But this time, the shoe gods had other plans. As I took a couple of steps, the entire soul of my special shoe came apart and lay spread on the floor along with the powdery flakes. I was literally numb with fear as it was just thirty more minutes for all to congregate in the marriage lawn and here I was stranded in my room with the right shoe in tatters.
And that's when it hit me: maybe life isn't about perfectly matching shoes. Maybe it's about embracing the imperfections, the unexpected twists, the little things that make us smile. So here I walked in my impeccable Indian dress with contrasting floaters on my feet, much to the amusement of the hotel staff, right across the road opposite the hotel, to this showroom of ‘Sturdy Brands’ shoes and realized that here was a collection which need not be stored or saved for special occasions only. They will continue to be as new as ever even if worn regularly or will not explode into pieces if worn after a considerable time.
The short ten minutes in this showroom was an eyeopener and a lifesaver for me that day and I laughed to myself regarding the unexpectedness of life events while I hurriedly put on this new brand to complete my perfect dress. The wedding was a grand success as also a new lesson learnt.
So, here's to the Sturdy Brands , to embracing the chaos, and to finding joy in the unexpected. And if you're looking to add a little spark to your shoe collection (matched or mismatched!), check out the new collection of Sturdy Brands! (Link for Brand collection here).
